Melanie Miranda Melanie Miranda is looking forward to her return trip to Europe and the GAY GAMES. She competed in New York City in 1994 in the 5K. Melanie says, "New York was great for fun and camaraderie." She comes from a big family and the entire Miranda clan is sports-crazy. Basketball is her game. Some of her fondest memories include High School basketball and the locker room celebrations. Now it's Fogelman Arena and Tulane Women's Basketball. She still competes too. Last year, she was a major player on the Elmwood summer basketball league. Melanie reminds everyone that "athletics is athletics, it's just more fun with friends." She has loads of friends. "Friends are like miracles in your backyard." She keeps busy off the court with Legal, LAGPAC, and Forum for Equality. Melanie thinks Amsterdam is going to be "sort of a gay sports camp." Melanie resides in the historic Irish Channel, so her favorite color is green.
